Use Mark Zuckerberg Visit to Nigeria As An Example By Sulaimon Idowu

Kunle Afolayan and Mark ZuckerBerg

I was just scrolling on my Facebook wall when i saw this statement by Sulaimon Idowu, Talking about some great this people need to notice from the visit of Mark Zukerberg to Nigeria and i think its worth sharing here....

Who is Mark Zuckerberg?

"Mark Elliot Zuckerberg (born May 14, 1984) is an American programmerInternet entrepreneur, executive, and philanthropist. He is the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and co-founder of social networking website FacebookHis net worth is estimated to be US$53.7 billion as of August 2016, ranking him as the 5th richest person in the world."

"Mark Zuckerberg has been in the news on his visit to Nigeria for the past few days and the high point of the news has been how simple his lifestyle is, which manifested in both his appearance and behaviour during his visit. But I think Nigerians are taking it too far with the way they compare him to the affluent class in Nigeria.
Ever since his visit, many Nigerians have taken the opportunity to take some jibes at several of Nigeria's rich men and politicians for walking about with security aides and wearing overly expensive clothes compared to Mark Zuckerberg, who is worth two times Nigeria's foreign reserve. While I agree to some of these, I believe some Nigerians have been unfair in their comparison.

It is true that Mark Zuckerberg's lifestyle is very simple. The way he dressed to Nigeria and behaved is his usual lifestyle and not publicity stunt. A lot of people walked past him at Yaba, not knowing he is the one, thinking its just some oyibos passing by. He could have requested for the use of sirens, make use of body guards
all around him and nobody will question him but he didn't and he even jogged on the streets.

Our politicians mostly relate freely with people only during campaign periods and stop all that after their election. It has now become a norm for them to try to make us see it as a privilege to relate with 'ordinary Nigerians' as they call us and that is why it makes the news, anytime any of them drives the car himself, serves the less privileged and one even goes about cutting ponmo in the market while the media crew captured it. While I see all these as publicity stunts, I will have to admit that politicians always need security aides for their safety and occasional uses of sirens when it is very necessary.

Mark should not in any way be compared to any rich Nigerian or politician. It is necessary to understand that, while some of them do not in any way need body guards at all, others need it. For God's sake, no Nigerian will deny the fact that several rich Nigerians or their relatives are being kidnapped for ransom and that our political
atmosphere is not friendly. Even in the countries where Mark himself came from, their politicians also have security aides. So why telling our own leaders to learn from him. Some may argue that there have been cases were Obama walked around without aides, but wait, who told you the secret service left him alone. Even the phone he uses is determined by the secret service all for the sake of his security.

Even Mark could have some security aides with him while he was around and they won't be part of the entourage. How about that? Obama's child, Malia, goes to school and parties freely in the USA.
Are we saying she isn't under watch? She definitely is. Who will even try to kidnap Zuckerberg in Nigeria? Imagine that happening, the culprits will be fished out in 24 hours. Yes, I said 24 hours. If Nigerian police want to work, they will work, so far the person affected is not ordinary. They wouldn't mind deploying the entire police force into gathering intelligence and apprehending the suspects due to the effects the killing or abduction of Zuckerberg might lead to. Besides, even the US will provide assistance, because one of their richest men is involved. So whoever it is that will kidnap him must have a strong team to beat all that within the short term
span he has to plan the attack since the visit was unexpected in the first place.
Zuckerberg's lifestyle is simple, asking Nigerians to stop buying things they don't need and learn humility and prudence from him is good. But asking our leaders to learn leadership from him is
uncalled for.

My take."

Thats all what he said, whats your view about this?
